So, let me verify this.

In your development country :), today,
1. it is allowed for motorists (only?) to open a door into moving traffic
2. motorists are not required to yield to oncoming bicyclists (only?) when turning left
3. it is allowed (required?) for motorists to turn right in front of a bicyclist

This strikes me as rather odd.

I think most countries with any traffic regulations will have a 'catch-all' or 'wild-card' clause that prohibits all of these anyway. It's like saying, that it is such good news that as-of-now it is also prohibited to kill your neigbour using an unsharpened knife

If the state of affairs really is that bad, I do think this is a good amendment, but please let's endeavour to make this thing a bit more generic. Right now I'm inclined to jump the bandwagon and add a few more obvious improvements:

- prohibit motorists from manouvering their vehicles in the same location as a cyclist who at the same time takes part of traffic in normal fashion
- prohibit mototists from causing a cyclist to be physically elevated by making contact with the front or rear of the vehicle, unless that cyclist has given prior written permission to do the same

You get my drift

Oh, and in case you're wondering why I'm such a stuck-up a-h about this all: I'm from Holland!

Cheers
